How we work it out
Real volume, not catalogue volume
Every item carries the volume it takes up in storage: a bed counts as dismantled, because that is how it gets stored.
Stacking height: 2 m
Ground-floor units are 2.5 m tall and upper-floor ones 2.2, but nobody stacks to the ceiling without a ladder. We calculate on what really gets used.
+20% so you can move
A unit packed to the door is useless if you need to reach something at the back. That margin is built in.
